A bit about me

Anton Fishman has 30 years’ experience working with businesses to clarify direction, determine what needs to be done, and ensure they have the capability and capacity to make it happen. Anton has worked side by side with senior executives in a wide cross-section of businesses to effect significant and lasting change through their people.

Originally an educational psychologist he obtained an MBA from Cranfield in 1985. He was a practice leader at Hay Group in the late ‘80s where he and his colleagues pioneered the development of the core people processes that underpinned the transformation of ‘Personnel’ to HR. He subsequently established and ran the successful change management consultancy Regenesis in the ‘90s and then its management audit and coaching offshoot Corporate Insights Ltd.

After collaborating with Boyden Interim Management to conduct the first major behavioural research study of Interim Executives Anton bought into the firm and  joined the Board of Boyden Interim Management in 2006, now Alium Partners.  Current Fishman & Partners projects:

Identification of next generation ‘future leaders’ for an international niche financial services company. Determining the management challenges for the business as it enters a phase of renewals and substantive growth under new ownership.  Current ‘talent bench’ primarily consists of those remaining executives who took the business through the post-Lehman crash, new PE owners, retrenchment and return to profitability in challenging times.  Well regarded people who nonetheless are now felt to lack the qualities to flip from survival to high growth mode.  We are designing and will implement Development centres for some 100 executives and middle managers worldwide

Conducting as strategic review of two US based HR functions of media and creative business owned by a worldwide media organisation.  The purpose being to enable the leaders of these effective functions identify ‘break through strategies’ to significantly shift the HR functions value proposition and enhance the brand experience of working with HR

On-boarding coaching of an HR Director, supporting her as she transitioned out of her previous role and joining her new company where she is now work for her old boss who moved on to current company a year in advance.  My client has moved on substantially and wishes, quite rightly, to avoid falling into the old [and very comfortable] ways of working with her boss.

Acting as sounding board / critical friend / and hands on support for CHRO and his OD Director of a private equity owned major service provider to retailers and financial services companies.  With an IPO expected in 18-24 months HR’s focus has been very operational.  The PE owners are applying pressure on the function to develop a 5 year People and Learning strategy and I was asked to support them in the shaping and development of this and in particular helping them develop a compelling proposition to put before their owners in mid-July

In collaboration with the CIPD Anton has set up a community of Practice for HR Business Partners to HR functions in very large organisations [ the HR4HR Group], and is now working with the to establish a similar group for those Leading HR Analytics function.
